High Pressure Sodium Lamps
High pressure sodium lamps give the orange light common in streetlights, parking lots and wall packs. They need an HPS ballast and, in most fixtures, a separate ignitor. Match the wattage, the ANSI S-code and the base (E26 medium or E39 mogul). Lamps that cycle on and off at end of life are worn out, not faulty. For better color and lower energy use, LED corn cob lamps replace most HPS lamps in the same fixture.
