Capacitors

Capacitors are part of most magnetic HID ballast kits, and a failed one shows up as lamps that will not start or burn dim. Match two numbers from the old capacitor or the ballast label: capacitance in microfarads (MFD) and voltage rating (for example 400 VAC). Dry film capacitors are smaller; oil filled units handle more heat. Never install one with a lower voltage rating. Discharge the old capacitor before handling it.
